Club South Coaches Sign up

After reading the info below- click here to sign up

Club South would like to first thank each of you for your dedication toward our young athletes. We assume everyone will give 100% to make this a successful season. Below are our coach’s guidelines for Club South.

TEAM ASSIGNMENTS:  We operate off of a seniority system.  Points are assigned and re-evaluated annually based off of a number of factors:  (1)Years coaching with Club South (2) What you current coach- college, high school, JV, MS, etc  (3) Head coach or asst coach      (4) Merit points based on the survey results from your team and parents from previous year, which carries significant weight.  Once your points are determined, we simply rank high to low, higher coaches get 1st choice of teams and so forth.

First and foremost, I ask you check your email daily during club season and respond promptly.

 Team Commitment/ Practices:

We don’t expect coaches to attend 100% of all practices, we do expect you to make the high majority of scheduled practices. We will do our best to work around any set conflicts.  If you can’t attend a practice, you are responsible for getting a coach to sub for you well in advance.

If you are unable to find someone, contact Corey or Jimmy. Required several days notice, do not call us the day before.

Set goals with your team.  Our goal for each team is for each coach to:  Be POSITIVE! Make it FUN ! Communicate with your players !  Remember, this is NOT school or college.. they PAY us; we need this to be fun, as well as a learning experience.  Practices should be well planned, prepare drills to avoid long lines where kids are standing.  Coach constantly, no sitting around.

At the end of every practice, balls should be shagged into carts. Have your team pick up trash before leaving. Each team will specific cleaning duties from time to time- make sure you know when your team is responsible.

We may schedule match play for some teams on off tournament weeks.   Use this time to allow players who don’t get as much playing time to play.

WSC closes at 10pm on weeknights and 7pm on weekend nights.. we must be out the door 15 minutes prior to this.. no exceptions.   Report any damage or injuries immediately to Jimmy.

Absolute restrictions :

Showing favorites.

Talking about another player, another CS coach, or CS Team to another player or parent.

Don’t make promises or plans concerning your team that relates to schedules, tournaments, fee’s, without first discussing this with the coaching committee.

Don’t accept fee payments, remind parents to mail fees in.

Never take a child home in your car, unless it is an emergency.

Due to insurance requirements and to avoid even the appearance of any wrongdoing, do not have players in your room while traveling, unless it is a team meeting. In the world we live today, be extremely careful what you say, where you touch, how you act around players! Be professional at all times! Coaches will be asked to resign on first offense.

FINES:

If a coach does not show up at a practice, your pay will be reduced by $25 per practice.
If a coach calls within 24 hours of a tournament to cancel, there will be a $75 reduction on your pay, unless you have a doctors excuse.
If a coach doesn’t show up at a tournament, there will be a $100 fine and you will be subject to dismissal from the club.

Addt. Info

Coaches may request additional practices, but without pay.  We have a budget and we schedule practices based off of our budgeted income from players. We do issue 1099’s for income received.

We schedule up to 6 teams in same time slots. There will be times when another coach may fail to show up (simply forgets, car blows up, etc.) PLEASE take their team and let them practice with you or arrange them to practice with a team similar in skill and age group.

If a player comes in at the wrong time, encourage them practice with a team close to her age group   rather than sending them home.

We would encourage you to hold a team meeting with your players and parents to get to know them, outline what your goals are and to determine team goals. A good time may be on first ½ day tournament in January.

Have players/parents check their schedule the first of the season for any conflicts of your team planned tournaments through the season. Top teams need to discuss commitment to Region Championships and National Qualifier.

Blank pay statements are at the club, you need to write in your practice times before or after each practice and keep your pay statement in your file folder provided. On the back of each pay sheet is a players attendance sheet.  Complete this at each practice.   Notify me if you have a player miss more than two weeks consecutive or if you know of one that plans to quit.

Make sure your players and parents have all you contact numbers and email addresses.  Meet you’re your team rep and plan what they can help you with.   Remind ALL players and parents they must notify you AND the team rep 48 hrs in advance if they plan to miss a practice and 3 weeks in advance if they can’t attend a tournament.

 TOURNAMENTS:

Notify Corey and myself if you have more than 2 players who can’t attend a tournament. We do not want be in a situation where we don’t have enough players and have to pull a team due to insufficient numbers. Our club is fined if this is done.

When we travel to Saturday tournaments more than 2 hours away, practices will be optional on the following Sunday.  We will hold practices, but optional group training that any individual may attend. Different coaches will be assigned to hold skill practices on a rotating basis.

Prior to attending a tournament, get 6 balls and a bag before Saturday from the WSC.  Team rep will assist in keeping up with balls at tournament. Return 6 balls (not 5) to the WSC at your next practice.

If you have a conflict with a tournament, contact Jimmy well in advance.   Please DO NOT make calls on Friday night prior to tournament. If you must miss a tournament, ask the sub to come in for at least 1 practice to get to know your players.

Each coach must take an on-line officials test and pass the 1st ref rating. We will have a club clinic that is mandatory for all.   Each coach will be responsible for up reffing.  You must learn the rules and pass a test.  Rule books will be provided. When you have scrimmages with other teams, take this time to allow players who sit out to practice down reffing and scorekeeping.
